  • Dr. Ziad Kazzi - Keynote Speaker

    Dr. Kazzi trained in Emergency Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta (2000-03) and in Medical Toxicology at Emory University, Georgia Poison Center and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2003-05) in Atlanta. Currently, he is a professor at the department of Emergency Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia as well as the director of the International Toxicology Fellowship Program at Emory University. He is also the assistant medical director of the Georgia Poison Center, associate medical director of the Southern Regional Disaster Response System and a guest researcher at the National Center for Environmental Health at the CDC where he participates in environmental health, and chemical and radiological emergency preparedness activities.

    As an emergency physician and toxicologist, Dr. Kazzi specializes in the recognition, triage, and management of poisonings and holds a deep interest in the areas of international toxicology, environmental health, and its relation to climate change. He is a co-investigator on two grant-funded projects evaluating exposure to metals due to environmental contaminations and retained bullet fragments. Through his work with UNICEF in the Republic of Georgia, he participated in the national strategic project to characterize lead hazards in children. He is currently serving as vice president of the American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT) and is a board member of the Medical Toxicology Foundation. He chairs the ACMT International Section. Dr. Kazzi has extensively lectured at National and International conferences and developed several curricula and training programs in emergency preparedness and response. He is an active and founding board member of the Middle East North Africa Toxicology Association and currently serves as its Immediate Past-President. Lastly, Dr. Kazzi is a member of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements and serves on the executive committee of the Radiation Injury Treatment Network.

  • Brian Sutton

    Brian Sutton is a Nurse Manager at MED-1 Mobile Hospital, bringing over 30 years of diverse healthcare experience to his role. With a robust background as a Flight Nurse and Team Leader for MedCenter Air, Brian has dedicated 24 years to providing critical care in high-pressure situations. His journey in healthcare began as a paramedic in Pennsylvania, where he served for five years before transitioning to Emergency Department nursing.

    A passionate advocate for emergency medicine, Brian has previously shared his expertise as a speaker at the Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) and the South Carolina EMS Symposium, covering a range of relevant topics. His goal is to equip audiences with a comprehensive understanding of the capabilities that mobile hospitals can offer in various emergency scenarios.

    Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an MBA, blending clinical expertise with business management skills to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. He is committed to fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in his role in disaster medicine. 

    In his spare time, Brian enjoys spending time with his family and Jeeping.  He resides in Charlotte, NC.

  • Stacy Prater

    Stacy Prater is a dedicated and experienced healthcare professional specializing in emergency medical services (EMS) and is a licensed critical care paramedic. With a career spanning over two decades, Stacy has held numerous roles including flight paramedic, EMS liaison, and program administrator. Currently, Stacy serves as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, where he instructs medical students and residents in advanced airway management.

    In addition, Stacy leads the LIFE FORCE Critical Care Paramedic Program at Erlanger Health System, overseeing student enrollment, classroom instruction, and clinical rotations. His expertise extends to providing critical education and outreach to EMS providers across Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina, meeting both state and national standards.

    Stacy is a board-certified flight paramedic and holds certifications in advanced cardiac and trauma life support, pediatric and neonatal resuscitation, and more. His commitment to EMS extends to leadership positions within professional associations, including serving as a board member of the Tennessee EMS Board and the International Association of Flight and Critical Care Paramedics.

    Stacy's career is marked by a strong commitment to education, clinical excellence, and advancing the practice of emergency medicine.

  • Dr. Fadi Nahab

    Fadi Nahab MD is Medical Director of the Emory University Hospital Comprehensive Stroke Center and Stroke Quality Director for Emory Healthcare. He obtained his medical degree at Loma Linda University and completed his internship at UCLA before coming to Georgia for neurology residency and vascular neurology fellowship at Emory University. In combination with an outstanding stroke team, he led Emory University Hospital to becoming the 1st certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Metro Atlanta and the 1st to successfully recertify in Georgia. He is currently Associate Professor of Neurology & Pediatrics at Emory University. His clinical practice is focused on the treatment of cerebrovascular disease and his research interests include biomarkers to guide the treatment of cryptogenic stroke patients, acute stroke treatment, dietary behaviors in stroke prevention and the treatment of intracranial atherosclerosis with over 100 publications. He is a previous chief resident in Neurology, Neurology Teacher of the Year at Emory University and has been named among Atlanta’s Top Doctors. 

  • Amy Eisenhauer

    Amy has more than 25 years of EMS experience having served in multiple operational, supervisory, managerial, and executive roles in a variety of clinical and educational settings within EMS. She currently serves an EMS program manager in New York. Amy has authored articles in several EMS trade journals and contributed to first responder texts on mental health and wellness for EMS providers. She is a nationally recognized speaker and has made presentations at various EMS and public safety conferences across the United States.

  • Samantha Johnson

    (Sam) Samantha is a Senior Associate General Counsel for Grady Health System and devotes a substantial portion of her time to advising, educating, and representing the hospital-based EMS division, which provides 911 emergency, specialty transport, mobile integrated healthcare, psychiatric/crisis response, and disaster response to Atlanta, South Fulton and numerous additional Georgia counties. Samantha is a graduate of Georgia State University College of Law (J.D., 2003) and the J. Mack Robinson College of Business (MBA and MHA, 2014). She is an accomplished speaker, author, and is the co-host of FlightBridgeED, LLC’s “The Standard of Care” Podcast, focusing on legal issues in EMS.

  • Nick Adams

    Division Chief Nick Adams has over 30 years of experience in EMS, known nationally for his expertise in medical-legal issues and his advisory role to EMS leaders on topics from protocol updates to community paramedicine initiatives. He has published in EMS World Magazine and co-founded the Metro Atlanta EMS Conference. Nick also co-hosts the Standard of Care Podcast with Samantha Johnson, where they discuss pressing topics for EMS professionals. Outside of work, he’s dedicated to his family, is an avid Boston Bruins fan, and is learning to play hockey.

  • David Fifer

    David Fifer, MS, NRP, WP-C, FAWM is the Director of the Center for Wilderness and Outdoor Public Safety at Eastern Kentucky University, and a prolific Wildernesd EMS speaker and teacher. He is the founder of the RedSTAR wilderness EMS unit in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge, and was a project leader for the development of the IBSC WP-C exam.
